LBBC Baskerville to hold industry workshop

From lab to field; corrosion testing for the 21st Century

The presence of corrosive gases (CO2 and H2 S), coupled with the shift towards deeper wells in increasingly extreme conditions and the commercial pressures to increase production rates creates challenges for operators to maintain the integrity of piping and other process equipment. The ultimate goal for the industry is to maximise production with improved process safety. Testing and measurement technologies and systems that will enable accuracy, repeatability and reliability are vital to meet the growing challenges in these sectors. The key to the success of any corrosion testing programme is that the conditions must closely match those seen in the field.

With this focus, LBBC Baskerville have organised a workshop event designed to discuss the key challenges in harsh operating environments, current and future needs in tools, technologies and methods, and to discuss how new products can be developed to enable innovation. This will align with a 30 month KTP project funded by Innovate UK.

Format of the workshop:

The Workshop will bring together insights from an industry and academic perspective. It is specifically designed to identify priority areas and recommended actions to address some of the most important and challenging issues in oil and gas production. A report will be produced which will be made available to all the attendees.
